Research Overview

The Department of Radiation Measurement and Physical Dosimetry carries out development of measurement techniques and dose assessment using physical approaches. In order to accurately understand exposure situations, radiation measurements and nuclide analysis in the environment as well as the human body are indispensable. Dose is estimated according to the type of radiation and its concentration in the area of exposure, and various samples must be collected and analyzed to complement the assessment value. In addition, internal radiation dose is assessed from the measurement of radioactive nuclides absorbed into the human body. While identifying the radioactive nuclide which is the cause of exposure is especially important for accurate dose assessment, we also develop rapid and convenient measurement methods for cases of emergency.
